Reflection Task 2a

THE STRANGEST 6 HABITS YOU CAN PICK UP AFTER LIVING 6 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

1) BRAZIL

A traveller staying Brazil more than 1 year says that he pick up a habit there. It is "asking his guests if they want to have shower. You know Brazil is hot country , so people need to ask them if they want to be fresh or not.I find it strange , because weather plays such an effective role on the country's culture.

2) PHILIPPINES

You know that in many culture, using index finger to point something is not an ethical way. However, Philippines have a habit about pointing something. They use their lips to point something. They are really sensitive, but they make a funny facial expression. Our traveller states that he got used to it and when he was in other countries, people got surprised for his expression.

3) IRELAND

Irish people put no limits on their friendship concept. They have a tradition to talk everyone with the same level of informality. They talk to police officers or teachers as if they were their friends. If you got used to it,you would face with different reactions in other countries.

4) RIO DE JANEIRO

If you are in a restaurant in Rio de Janeiro, you must accustom yourself to eat your pizza with ketchup.

5) GERMANY

In Germany,it is more normal to be straight with people and give them direct truth. In some countries like Canada giving truth for example not complemeting sth.for not loved is a rude behavior but Germans are really frank.

6) TURKEY

He has been in Turkey and he claims Turks have an habit and transmit it into the others. It is carrying a lighter even though you do not smoke.

I think our traveller is crazy boy.If you watch the video whose link is at the top of the page, you see you can travel around the world without so much money.I choose this topic because I believed it would encourage me.Then, the man's impulsive tone affected me like I expected. Also,I hope you will like it because we are all interested in language and culture.Preparing this work is not such a hard job.I did not associate with any challenges.Enjoy reading see you guys and girls. R.I.P MANDELA

NELSON MANDELA DEATH : APARTHEID -46 YEARS IN 90 SECONDS

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-22911431

The video whose link you can see above explains Nelson Mandela's life briefly. It begins with the fight of Mandela with the seperation between black people and white people. It contains Mandela's speech in prison. He shows this determination by stating ''There are many people who feel that it is useless and fully futile for us to continue talking peace and non violence.'' He uses these words because of an event that 69 people were killed by the whites. The deaths galvanized the opposition radicallizing liberation movements like the ANC. Through the video we see what black people suffered from white ones.It is just discrimination and our video depicts its level of brutality. As for the video maker's perspective,I think he supports equality. He must oppose to race discriminations because in the video he supports his ideas by examplifying what black people went through. To illustrate,he says Living, doing business or earning land in white areas was banned. They were separate from public facilities, transport and schools ,and two racial marriage was banned. Many have no right to citizenship and are regarded as aliens in major cities. When it comes to comparing his ideas with my ideas.I agree with the speaker. He has real points to defence.I believe that even now there is still close discriminations.I like this video because it focuses on an important social issue.I heard some stories about white people do not want to travel with black ones.

On a British Airways flight from Johannesburg, a middle-aged, well-off white South African lady has found herself sitting next to a Black man. She called the cabin crew attendant over to complain about her seating.

"What seems to be the problem Madam?" asked the attendant. "Can't you see?" she said, " You've sat me next to a kaffir. I can't possibly sit next to this disgusting human. Find me another seat!"

"Please calm down, Madam," the stewardess replied. "The flight is very full today, but I'll tell you what I'll do - I'll go and check to see if we have any seats available in club or first class."

The woman cocks a snooty look at the outraged Black man beside her (not to mention many of the surrounding passengers). A few minutes later the stewardess returns with the good news, which she delivers to the lady, who cannot help but look at the people around her with a smug and self-satisfied grin:

"Madam, unfortunately, as I suspected, economy is full. I've spoken to the cabin services director, and club is also full. However, we do have one seat in first class." Before the lady has a chance to answer, the stewardess continues . . . "It is most extraordinary to make this kind of upgrade, however, and I have had to get special permission from the captain. But, given the circumstances, the captain felt that it was outrageous that someone should be forced to sit next such an obnoxious person."

Having said that, the stewardess turned to the Black man sitting next to the lady, and said: "So if you'd like to get your things, sir, I have your seat ready for you ..." At which point, apparently the surrounding passengers stood and gave a standing ovation while the Black man walked up to the front of the plane. That is fair. She deserved to be showed her place.

Nelson Mandela was hero of the black people..Hero of humanity.he was the leader of all of us and will be.
He ended Apartheid.

I AM ONE OF HIS FANS

STEPHEN KING

Stephen Edwin King (born September 21, 1947) is an American author of contemporary horror, suspense, science fiction and fantasy. His books have sold more than 350 million copies all over the world and many of them have been adapted into feature films, television movies and comic books.

As a child, King apparently witnessed one of his friends being struck and killed by a train, though he has no memory of the event. His family told him that after leaving home to play with the boy, King returned, speechless and seemingly in shock. Only later did the family learn of the friend's death. Some commentators have suggested that this event may have psychologically inspired some of King's darker works.

Today I will evaluate his life, books and style.Firstly,as a member of the jury,I want to claim that Stephen King is such a prolific writer that he writes and publishes constantly. While I still haven't  read 'Doctor Sleep' that has been printing for nearly 1.5 months,he introduce a new novels named 'Mr.Mercedes' and 'Turn Down The Lights'.Considering this aspect of his success he deserves 10 points out of 10.You can see the books I mentioned with clicking the link below :

Secondly, his style reflects perfect imagination while it is capturing the reality at the same time. For this reason many of his books have been adapted into films.Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption is the most famous ones. When it comes to his writing style we can see his quotation :

"Read and write four to six hours a day. If you cannot find the time for that, you can't expect to become a good writer." It is his formula or way of inspiring himself.I find his films so attractive like his books. He is really genius.

I watched his 8 films and the most importanat things you can not predict the end unlike you do when wathching other horror films. It is not cliche and that makes Stephen King original. Thanks for reading. For more info :   http://www.stephenking.com/library/written.html.  :)
