THE STRANGEST 6 HABITS YOU CAN PICK UP AFTER LIVING 6 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

1) BRAZIL

A traveller staying Brazil more than 1 year says that he pick up a habit there. It is "asking his guests if they want to have shower. You know Brazil is hot country , so people need to ask them if they want to be fresh or not.I find it strange , because weather plays such an effective role on the country's culture.

2) PHILIPPINES

You know that in many culture, using index finger to point something is not an ethical way. However, Philippines have a habit about pointing something. They use their lips to point something. They are really sensitive, but they make a funny facial expression. Our traveller states that he got used to it and when he was in other countries, people got surprised for his expression.

3) IRELAND

Irish people put no limits on their friendship concept. They have a tradition to talk everyone with the same level of informality. They talk to police officers or teachers as if they were their friends. If you got used to it,you would face with different reactions in other countries.

4) RIO DE JANEIRO

If you are in a restaurant in Rio de Janeiro, you must accustom yourself to eat your pizza with ketchup.

5) GERMANY

In Germany,it is more normal to be straight with people and give them direct truth. In some countries like Canada giving truth for example not complemeting sth.for not loved is a rude behavior but Germans are really frank.

6) TURKEY

He has been in Turkey and he claims Turks have an habit and transmit it into the others. It is carrying a lighter even though you do not smoke.

I think our traveller is crazy boy.If you watch the video whose link is at the top of the page, you see you can travel around the world without so much money.I choose this topic because I believed it would encourage me.Then, the man's impulsive tone affected me like I expected. Also,I hope you will like it because we are all interested in language and culture.Preparing this work is not such a hard job.I did not associate with any challenges.Enjoy reading see you guys and girls. (:

R.I.P MANDELA

NELSON MANDELA DEATH : APARTHEID -46 YEARS IN 90 SECONDS

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-22911431

The video whose link you can see above explains Nelson Mandela's life briefly. It begins with the fight of Mandela with the seperation between black people and white people. It contains Mandela's speech in prison. He shows this determination by stating ''There are many people who feel that it is useless and fully futile for us to continue talking peace and non violence.'' He uses these words because of an event that 69 people were killed by the whites. The deaths galvanized the opposition radicallizing liberation movements like the ANC. Through the video we see what black people suffered from white ones.It is just discrimination and our video depicts its level of brutality. As for the video maker's perspective,I think he supports equality. He must oppose to race discriminations because in the video he supports his ideas by examplifying what black people went through. To illustrate,he says Living, doing business or earning land in white areas was banned. They were separate from public facilities, transport and schools ,and two racial marriage was banned. Many have no right to citizenship and are regarded as aliens in major cities. When it comes to comparing his ideas with my ideas.I agree with the speaker. He has real points to defence.I believe that even now there is still close discriminations.I like this video because it focuses on an important social issue.I heard some stories about white people do not want to travel with black ones.

On a British Airways flight from Johannesburg, a middle-aged, well-off white South African lady has found herself sitting next to a Black man. She called the cabin crew attendant over to complain about her seating.

"What seems to be the problem Madam?" asked the attendant. "Can't you see?" she said, " You've sat me next to a kaffir. I can't possibly sit next to this disgusting human. Find me another seat!"

"Please calm down, Madam," the stewardess replied. "The flight is very full today, but I'll tell you what I'll do - I'll go and check to see if we have any seats available in club or first class."

The woman cocks a snooty look at the outraged Black man beside her (not to mention many of the surrounding passengers). A few minutes later the stewardess returns with the good news, which she delivers to the lady, who cannot help but look at the people around her with a smug and self-satisfied grin:

"Madam, unfortunately, as I suspected, economy is full. I've spoken to the cabin services director, and club is also full. However, we do have one seat in first class." Before the lady has a chance to answer, the stewardess continues . . . "It is most extraordinary to make this kind of upgrade, however, and I have had to get special permission from the captain. But, given the circumstances, the captain felt that it was outrageous that someone should be forced to sit next such an obnoxious person."

Having said that, the stewardess turned to the Black man sitting next to the lady, and said: "So if you'd like to get your things, sir, I have your seat ready for you ..." At which point, apparently the surrounding passengers stood and gave a standing ovation while the Black man walked up to the front of the plane. That is fair. She deserved to be showed her place.

Nelson Mandela was hero of the black people..Hero of humanity.he was the leader of all of us and will be.
He ended Apartheid.

I AM ONE OF HIS FANS

STEPHEN KING

Stephen Edwin King (born September 21, 1947) is an American author of contemporary horror, suspense, science fiction and fantasy. His books have sold more than 350 million copies all over the world and many of them have been adapted into feature films, television movies and comic books.

As a child, King apparently witnessed one of his friends being struck and killed by a train, though he has no memory of the event. His family told him that after leaving home to play with the boy, King returned, speechless and seemingly in shock. Only later did the family learn of the friend's death. Some commentators have suggested that this event may have psychologically inspired some of King's darker works.

Today I will evaluate his life, books and style.Firstly,as a member of the jury,I want to claim that Stephen King is such a prolific writer that he writes and publishes constantly. While I still haven't  read 'Doctor Sleep' that has been printing for nearly 1.5 months,he introduce a new novels named 'Mr.Mercedes' and 'Turn Down The Lights'.Considering this aspect of his success he deserves 10 points out of 10.You can see the books I mentioned with clicking the link below :

http://www.stephenking.com/index.html

Secondly, his style reflects perfect imagination while it is capturing the reality at the same time. For this reason many of his books have been adapted into films.Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption is the most famous ones. When it comes to his writing style we can see his quotation :

"Read and write four to six hours a day. If you cannot find the time for that, you can't expect to become a good writer." It is his formula or way of inspiring himself.I find his films so attractive like his books. He is really genius.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_King#Awards (For his awards , click please ! )

I watched his 8 films and the most importanat things you can not predict the end unlike you do when wathching other horror films. It is not cliche and that makes Stephen King original. Thanks for reading. For more info :   http://www.stephenking.com/library/written.html.  :)

JACOB BARNETT , THE BOY TALENTED
by Zeynep Gizem Emir on Thursday,November 21,2013

The story of a boy 15 years old , diagnosed with authism is very attractive. While his peers study in high schools , he studies at university with his 20-years old friends. Jacob's mathematical intelligence is perfect unlike his mother Kristine and father Michael.Kristine wanted to be sure about his son's ability and she sent Jacob's videos to Piercon University from which Einstein graduated. She not believe that education is  memorizing knowledge or obey the authority without questioning. She infrants all rules known as truth. She wrote about her style that create a genious boy. It is letting a child think critically.

Mrs.Barnett wrote a book named "The Spark : A mother's story of Nurturing Genious in which she explains her son. She explains what they experience in the education process. The book is published earlier this year and it is best-seller now. Superficially, she expresses in her book that she allowed him to do what he wants and perceive the world by himself .Contrary to what doctors state about him , he has had no learning problems. He is labelled as authisitc by some doctors and Jacob's teachers ; however he is the boy whose IQ is 170 , which means he is smarter even than Einstein(160). Kristine is hard bitten. She hasn't given up. She mentions about the conference by which her son was entitled to study at Premeter Institue For Theoretical Physics. It was only five minutes he make decision to study there.

From early childhood of Jacob , we learn an event showing Jacob's sparkle. One day,Kristine see the line made by crayons. These cryons were in the same order with the colors' order in rainbow. She and her husband were slack-jawed and Jacob was just three years old when he did that.

Now,the boy called that he can not even lace up is studying for proving the flaws of the relativity theory. Jacob believes that Earth didn't formed after the Big Bang , so he searches for the leak of carbon dioxide during the formation of Earth.

MY MISERABLE LOVE

MY MISERABLE LOVE

You are the the reason
Of my misery that I am in now
Unforgetable memories
Are always on my mind
Rather than being able to neglect 'you and I'
Every moment of my life is full of your bright face and
Blurry mind
Endings give grief sometimes
And sometimes they make you
Unbeatable no matter what you face
Till the end of the world
I will love you and
For good , I forgive you
Uuu! I know  you'll regret
Lastly , that will be so late.

1) Our beagle loves to hunt. Someone opens the back for her. She barrels down porch steps into the yard and runs back and forth across the lawn in ecstasy. Her nose cruises the wet grass for smells of cats, rabbit and other presences that are too subtle for human detection.  She sniffs and spins her tail in quick circles.  It spins clockwise first , then it spins counterclockwise.  Sniffing and spinning activities always occur together. They seem to propel her along.

2)The Government Printing Office in Washington D.C., is a source of much useful information about which few people know.  It is the official publishing house for the federal government.  The GPO publishes pamphlets and books on a vast number of subjects that range from the dangers of X-rays , home TV sets to the identification of mushrooms.  About 27,000 publications are offered through the Superintendent of Documents , many of whom are inexpensive.  There is no charge at all for some.

3)A man reaped America’s first fortune was John Jacob Astor.  He was a German immigrant who made his initial money trading Indian furs.  He was lowborn, uneducated and never learned to speak English properly.  He carried on his business to the end in an accent which was redolent of the Hamburg gutters.

Reflection Task 1a

INTRODUCTION

Hi everybody! Welcome to my blog. It is time to have been introduced me to each other. Firstly, don't worry. It will not be like the introductions you are accustomed to. I'm not an ordinary person. To begin with my interests, firstly,I really like to be involved in language. It has been my passion from the earlier years of my life. I was a little girl spending my time imagining dream world in which I live.I created imaginary foreign friends with whom I speak in a made up language.I can't say that I reached all my dreams. As years passed , I succeeded in being in my dream country "Italy" so now that I can begin to crave for France.I have French class. As for language again,I want to mention about my parrot. My sweet prince Charlie...I believe that my tender point is animals.I taught him so well that he learned more than fifty words. The funniest thing is that he was able to meow.Secondly,I desire for learning sign language. The beginning of the semester METU WITHOUT BARRIERS choose its trainee by lot. However I was unlucky. When it comes to the subject of sport, honestly,I only like jogging. I was placed with high grade in the competition when I was in 7th grade.I love writing short stories, but I don't allow people to read them :D My character is so changeable.I can say for the thing I liked yesterday is generally what I hate now or vice versa. To give an example, I think that I had such a terrible music delight just before two years ago. By the way , I am exactly addicted to filmes. I like every single genre of films. That is me with superficial explaination.I am glad to introduce myself. (:

How to destroy Syria's chemical arsenal

   Where will it be done?

The chemical weapons can be destroyed* in situ using mobile units, or moved to another
location for large-scale processing.
(It is the first sentence of the news.In this context ''destroyed'' is used as an intransitive verb.)

Ralph Trapp, formerly with the OPCW, said: "One thing I can say for sure is they are not going to do it the normal way, where you have the time and leisure to consolidate the
stockpile.(In the second paragraph of ''where will it be done'' consolidate is used in transitive form.)

He suggests the Syrians may have to adopt a more "patchwork approach" where
weapons are first put beyond use, by removing the charges and filling the payloads with concrete, or burying them in concrete.(In third paragraph,''suggests'' is used in transitive form.)

Under the terms of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), dumping chemical agents at sea or burying them deep underground is not allowed*(In forth paragraph,''allowed'' is used in intransitive form.)

"Because Russia has taken the initiative here, they have that responsibility now to make
sure it works."(''taken'' is used as a transitive verb and ''make sure'' is intransitive verb in this context.)

Russia has a naval base at Tartus in Syria where the chemical weapons could be taken and then shipped to another location. But there may be concerns, under the CWC, about
allowing* the shipment of chemical munitions through foreign waters.(''shipped'' is intransitive verb and ''allowing'' is used as a transitive verb in this context.)

Russia already has a chemical weapons destruction programme, although it is currently
operating at full capacity and still has a considerable amount of Russian weapons to
destroy* before its programme is complete.(''operating'' is intransitive and ''destroy'' is transitive there.)

''*'' is used for refering verbs that are both transitive and

intransitive in this text.
